Hearing the first chord of Phantom of the Opera, live at The Pantages Theatre in 1989, changed my vision of the world. Upon hearing it my young mind woke, my body shook and my imagination soared (I even forgot that my brother was controlling my armrest). In that moment a sound created feeling and emotion that I had never experienced; it opened a world of possibility; and it morphed the imaginary into the real.
A single chord moved me without physically touching me and changed my perception of the possible. Even after all the incredible live performances I've been fortunate to experience, I will never forget being that little girl, sitting still and silent, eyes wide and heart racing as the first chord of Phantom hit my body and carried me away.
